The Pecking Order is now offically "shelved" and will not be completed any time soon, if at all. My reason for this is simple. Firstly, the data collection and processing time was prohibitive. Secondly, the actual data when collected was prone to being outdated quickly. Thirdly, even when in-date the data was not particularly valuable. And finally, I was not happy that anything such as The Pecking Order will be useful in Cataclysm, when it feels like playing Moonkin will depend more on the player behind the character than it does currently.

Gday all,

I've still been quiet, I've been reviewing some of the articles lately and feel that I need to do some rewrites. The Pecking Order is, I am afraid, going to be put to rest for the time being - I am uncertain I am able to do it proper justice at present. I will instead concentrate on filling a couple of gaps in the knowledge on the site (interface, macros, that kind of thing) and look at refining the existing articles.

CARE New Media ChallengeThat is not what I am here to say today though. A few months ago my boss asked for volunteers to take place in something called the CARE New Media Challenge. It comprises of 24km bike ride, 16km run, and 2km canoe segments. I'm not looking forward to the running. This is why I've not really had much time to keep Strayegg active lately!

Anyway, as part of this we are of course raising some funds for the charity CARE International UK. I thought I'd make an appeal to the readers of Strayegg to see if any of you felt like sponsoring our team!

If you would like to sponsor us, then you can do so through our page on Just Giving. Sponsor MSO.net on the CARE New Media Challenge

Thank you to any of you that do contribute, every little helps! Until next time, Aeiedil out!

I just thought I should probably post something up to say that I am still alive, becuase I've been silent for longer than I was hoping. I'm sorry that I've not made any progress on The Pecking Order, and not really written anything new, it's been hard to find motivation sometimes! So, what's been going on!

Something has come up IRL. I can't keep this up on top of everything else, so for now I'm putting things on hold here. Should just be for a couple of weeks at the most hopefully, The Pecking Order will be completed!

In happier news (for those that didn't see on Twitter), finally downed the Lich King 25m, pewpew

Those of you that have been following the development of The Pecking Order may be familiar with a couple of the numbers on the chart. Statscore and Ratio. These are new numbers and I felt it would be worth detailing how they currently are calculated.

The Moonkin ranking project is coming along nicely. I've even got the background processes running after a fashion! You can see the current top 50 here : Top 50. This listing is by no means complete yet. I am currently adding in more servers steadily. Some servers have some problems being imported due to punctuation (a silly bug that I am currently correcting).

If you would like to request your server be added into the system next then just leave me a comment on here and I'll make it so. I'll add in the ability to see more than just the top 50 soon along with some other bits and pieces such as a player search and server rankings.

I still don't have a good name for this project! Open to suggestions still!

There is a problem that I have been thinking heavily about the last few weeks. It's a simple question, one that all players have their own take on. Put simply, what properties seperate the good Moonkin from the bad, or for that matter the good from the great? On top of that, why is this currently preying on my mind?

Gday all. I know I've been quiet lately, but that's because I just can't seem to find the time to finish the couple of posts that I've been working through about Addons and Macros. I am still here! Just being thoughtful.

I've also started work on a project that goes along the lines of wow-heroes and /spit Gearscore. It will however be Moonkin-specific because Moonkin is what I know, and I really don't want to see another site that just counts the gear levels. More info on this as it happens.

This is why I've been a bit quiet of late though, between moving the website around and working on the top secret Moonkin project above and raiding my evenings just disappear!

On a personal note I just went past the 8000 achievement point mark with a Saurfang Heroic kill in 10 man, and am sat ready to try again against the Lich King in 25 man (normal) tonight.

Druids got a few mentions in the patch notes yesterday as I am sure you'll be aware if you keep an eye on any of the other blogs or MMO Champion. Realistically I can't see the Typhoon or Nature's Grasp changes doing anything for Moonkin in PvE however there was 1 buff that made me die a little inside at first glance. It's started to grow on me a bit now.

If, like me, you play WoW from the comfort of a laptop then you may notice from time to time that your laptop gets a bit warm. When this happens the performance of your laptop is decreased. For the cost of a few quid you can get an air duster that will allow you to clean out your laptop and decrease it's operating temperature. Read on for why this is important, or click here to find links to some suitable products. This article is more aimed at laptops, but the same applies to desktops.
